Of all my airsoft replicas, this one has perhaps remained static for the longest. I configured it as pictured in 2015 and while it has optics and a sling, no key part of the gun has changed in the passing of that decade. Granted, this is partly down to the discontinuation of FG in 2014, as it’s certainly possible that I would have been tempted by alterations if other Foliage options were available. On the other hand however the configuration simply works so well for hobby usage that any changes would have been consumerism for the sake of itself.

This build started as a TM SOCOM EBBr, which is a totally plain M4A1 with waffle stock and GI plastic handguards. Parts added are below:
- Magpul Industries CTR stock
- PTS GBB ASAP plate dremeled to fit
- PTS MIAD grip and trigger guard
- Magpul rear BUIS (possibly 1st gen)
- PTS Mid-length MOE handgurds
- Magpul MOE Sling Attachment (MSA) and MOE cantilever rail
- Madbull VLTOR style gas block/front BUIS
- Dytac 12.5″ Mid-length barrel
- PTS Rainier muzzle brake
Lucky back when PTS still had the Magpul moniker they were doing an absolutely spot on job of matching their plastic colours to the real articles.
The end result here is pretty light and very ergonomic, and FG blends really well with Multicam gear. It isn’t super faithful to how a civilian AR from the early-mid 10s likely would have looked so I would do things slightly different if I started the same build now, but it is a good time capsule for airsoft builds from 10-15 years ago. Internally it is completely stock TM and it, just, works, so I have no plans to ever change it in that regard.
