14.5″ TM NGRS – 2021 Status

Since taking this pictures, the stock and optic have changed on this build, also a new charging handle. VFG is gone as is the ASAP, but really it’s unchanged in terms of the key components.

Perhaps the most unique aspect of this build is that it started front-wired (SOCOM) and a very good mate of mine rear wired it and milled out a MOE-SL extended butt pad. I’d reasoned that a very small 7.4v battery, around 800mah, could go in there as people often did with CTRs on the SOPMODs.

In the end that small battery wasn’t really up to the challenge and would have needed changing more times per day than I’d like, especiallywith the stronger spring in the gearbox. With each change requiring an allen key to remove the pad.

Handling wise though, I like this thing an awful lot. Having a full length, freefloat handguard makes it look longer than an M4A1 but it’s very handy given the light weight of the carbon fibre. Oh and I had to build in a faux mid-length gas system of course.

Between the forend setup and the MIAD + MOE trigger guard, it’s a comfortable build to carry over the course of a day.
