2013 BCM Build Chat

Pre-retro: aka it’s not retro cool, yet.

I think this BCM KMR was the first ever real AR handguard I fitted to a an airsoft replica, which was a bad intro in retrospect because the rail was an interference fit on to the included barrel nut. In the long run it was worth it though, because this specific example is the original KMR made from a magnesium-aluminium alloy, which was only produced for a short time then production moved over to the KMR Alpha (no magnesium), and this one is ridiculously light. It probably has serious downsides since the production run was so short, but for my super mild usage it’s spot on.

It used to have a BCM stock to tick the ‘Full BCM’ box until just a couple of months ago, but I wanted a VLTOR on at least one build and I found pics from 2013 or so of rifles exactly like this with the IMOD fitted. I think the HAMR is also right for the time period in question.

ESD sling doesn’t fit timeline-wise, but there were 2-point quick adjusts on the market at that point. And it’s just a really great sling.

I have a really old knock-off of a CompM2 in a LaRue 30mm QD mount and the HSP edition of the Inforce WML on standby to swap this same stick over to indoor play. For larger sites though, just this 4x works great.
