KeyMod Tinted Glasses

t’s my hill and I’ll die on it if I want.

This biggest ‘issue’ I see with M-LOK is the thickness of the attachment points isn’t a standard. With pic rail there was a full on international military standard and while some commercial entities deviated from that, there weren’t really issues if you bought a quality brand. I don’t know if KeyMod was technically standardised in terms of thickness/depth, but the handguards I saw had much less variance than all the M-LOK I’ve seen.

The magpul option also seems a lot more likely to have accessories try to occupy the space that your gas block does; which doesn’t really work funnily enough. Almost all of the time your light mount or foregrip will be up front and your gas block will be in the same area. Even more likely the shorter your whole forend setup is. M-LOK around a silencer like a Honey Badger is of course also 100% entirely pointless. That obviously didn’t happen with pic, maybe not with direct mount or KM either.

Also the rail cover options for M-LOK suck fat balls – awful. The selection for pic was and is *chefs’ kiss* and while it was terrible for direct thread it wasn’t too bad for KM. The massive variance in external diameter/geometry, however, with M-LOK make a lot of previous style of cover pretty much impossible from a logistical/business standpoint.

And apparently when you make an M-LOK forend ‘tough enough’ for whichever part of DoD spec’d the RIS III, you also make it just as heavy as quad rail anyway.

Admittedly; it does look better than KM. But not pic or direct thread.
