I’m woolly-hat posting in June because my social media strategy is absolutely awful (it’s not, I don’t have one at all). I do like to get winter gear in summer and vice versa however, that’s a pretty good way of doing things.
One of my most used items from any tactical/surplus retailer is this hat right here – by a good margin in fact. I’ve had it for 4 years and it goes right on my head every time the weather is cold enough to do so.
These are actually made right in Finland which is great, love it. The comfort level isn’t something you can rate empirically, but compared to all your typical polyester knit or fleece winter hats, this thing is honestly on another level. As soon as I first tried it on when I received it I knew I’d been spoiled for life.
I got this brown one to larp as a real hard working man from the beginning of the 20th century, and it does a decent job of distracting from the fact I grew up in the suburbs and had A/C in all my accommodation whenever I actually deployed.

These are pricey, £28/€30 and the band is thick with multiple layers but it’s not as thick over the top of the head, so you might even consider a thin liner type hat if you live in the Nordics or Scotland. But I’m still strongly considering picking up another colour whenever I place another order with Varusteleka.
