Not my items, posted with the kind permission of a Mr Joshua Guinan who’s a member of Camouflage Addicts on facebook. I can only physically own so much NYCO and Cordura myself and a lot of items I’d perhaps like to have are in collections where they’ll remain until the owners pass away at this point. Hence showcasing other people’s collections where it makes sense will definitely be a necessity here in order to bring the coolest items to the page.
The short story of the CCU is that it is a uniform cut I’d describe as sitting squarely inbetween BDU and ACU. In the early 2000s this style of uniform was trialed by the DoD to include soldiers wearing it in combat in Iraq. It was produced during a time when a large camo pattern test was going on known by the US Army as their Universal Camouflage Trial, one that would ultimately end with the adoption of UCP.. but that is a different story.
A few of the camos featured in that trial were applied to the CCU cut, along with some other classics. Here we can see US Woodland Camo, US 3 Col Desert, Solid Green Test, Scorpion and Urban Track. From what I have seen out there, the most numerous versions of CCU exists in Woodland and 3CD.
Rumours abound that these exist in Desert All Over Brush and other patterns from the trials, but I have not seen picture evidence of those yet myself.
