OpFor PCS – Navy Blue DPM

If you google ‘blue opfor dpm’ you will easily find plenty of images of this pattern being used by British troops on exercise areas as they play enemy. Since issued PCS items in camouflage patterns other than MTP are quite and instances of DPM being issued post-MTP adoption are also uncommon, I had to hunt down a surplus set of this uniform to add to my own collection.

This UBACS is a more recent iteration of PCS cut, unlike the original version that had elbow/forearm pad pockets and full loop fields (this lacks both); that said however it is earlier than the most recent PCS 23. The upward pointing arrow on the label signifies property of the crown, also note the term ‘EP BLUE’ which I have not seen officially explained, perhaps Enemy Performer, or something along those lines. Also unusually the generalised material specs are mentioned, which is most certainly not the norm on UK issue clothing (unlike US DoD issued uniforms).

For a (roughly) pre-2023 issued PCS item the trousers are very much run-of-the-mill, with an additional zipped pocket inside the left slash pocket and adjusters on the waist. Those features were removed on some PCS production for a time prior to the issuing of the specific PCS 23 updates. So again the garment is most unremarkable in features, but the camo pattern is very cool and I am glad to own it.

As mentioned at the start there are plenty of images out there on the free web showing these uniforms in use, so I recommend searching those up for anyone interested in non-standard modern UK issued equipment.
