Micro-scale kit bashing to save my knock-off scope getting pewed.
I honestly don’t know if this is even a problem with the real ACOG killflashes, but the dirty chinese clones come with pathetic rubber o-rings to secure the main piece, and they snap while under slight tension doing their intended job. I tried aftermarket o-rings, but again they have a weak join where the circle is formed from rubber cord as they aren’t intended to subject to a constant circumferential stretch. Some bungee cord of the type used on tac gear, however, doesn’t have any such problem.
If you’ve got a nylon acquisition ‘problem’ that you’ve had for a fair length of time, then you will inevitably have loads of cord that you’ve taken off shingle style pouches. Same story with cord locks. If not though, both are extremely cheap to purchase online. The cord lock also isn’t necessary at all, you could just set the right length to get the required tension and put in the overhand knot. Just makes it a little bit easier to take on and off with some adjustment.
Of course these replicas optics are far cheaper than the real thing, but you’re still looking at £100-150 for a clone 4x such as an ACOG or ELCAN, so whether you’re doing airsoft with a copy or shooting sims with the real thing, I’d always strongly advocate you protect your purchase against the inevitable incoming projectiles. And Fucko Concepts would charge $29.99 for the cord loop.
Your wife or girlfriend will also really appreciate you having a hair tie on hand if she has lost hers or forgotten to bring one that day.
