Picked up this new-old stock DBDU shirt some years ago and then obviously had it ruined because I’m a philistine.
A fairly minimal RAID as they go, pretty conventional. Chest pockets to the sleeves and loop fields/velcro closure, then lower pockets up to the chest and buttons again swapped for velcro.

Makes it viable for tucking in, good with webbing, slightly better than original with armour vests or chest rigs.
One of the most iconic camo patterns of all time and personally while I like 3 col desert, I think from an aesthetic perspective I probably prefer 6 col all things considered.

I don’t own many items that are older than me due to a combination of being an old man (according to the kids) and only liking stuff from the 90s onwards. But if I’m reading it right the tag in these trousers says they were made in 1984, which does pre-date, yes, even me.

The one noticeable difference with these 6 col desert pants is the extra pleat of fabric in the knee area when compared to the later woodland and 3 col uniforms. Not a bad little addition to help with taking a knee I’d say. If you’ve ever been totally soaked or filthy and had your trouser leg stick right to you and not want to let you kneel or climb a tall step, you’ll probably know what I mean.
While the fabric is twill rather than ripstop, I do like the, entirely subjective, feel of these slightly older items. BDUs and ACUs are decent enough especially at surplus prices, but my set of 6 col desert honestly has the on body feel of a really rather well made or higher end set of clothing, almost like a suit.
If any of you have tried the different iterations of US issued uniforms through the 80s, 90s and in to the 2000s let me know what you found with them.
From the personal collection of De La Surp thanks mate.
