Next time you want to whinge about issued kit, just know: it could be even a lot worse.
I sometimes get more engagement with UK issued kit than I do with rare Cryes so I guess I’ll keep posting a wide array of stuff on here. Apart from anything, UK and US surplus is the best bang for your buck in terms of nylon you can get cheaply and just use as much as you want until it (eventually) breaks. But personally I do have stuff in my collection that’s very cool and interesting, but I will either use it maybe once in 5 years or never at all if it’s old/fragile/super rare.
Anyway thanks to a Mr Anonymous who acquired both the new MTP softie jacket I showed on video the other day alongside the prototype of it and sent over pictures. Quite a gnarly iteration of the camo there on the prototype to say the least. I hope they didn’t print too much of that fabric…

I also did some closer examinations of my standard example and spotted a few of things to note.

The new loop material is indeed a full recreation of MTP and my left cuff happened to match the right arm velcro.

These things are actually made of nylon whereas an awful lot of UK issued clothing is either all polyester or a polyester blend.

things I’ve been issued recently do (sometimes) have ‘Made In’ labels where older kit didn’t. I barely ever saw them in DPM equipment. Myanmar is at least preferable to chinese production. For those in the US who are wondering, we don’t have anything like Berry for the MoD, most common soft goods are contracted to companies who outsource their production in Asia.
If you have rare examples of kit (especially brands like Crye) or odd prototypes of issued items, get in touch to be featured.
