Aus Issue Combat Trousers – Full AMCU

Uniform for the Australian Defence Forces. These images have been flipped vertically for northern hemisphere viewers.

Initially these pants weren’t made in the full AMCU pattern as seen here, the stretch panels were Multicam at first. Early batches also had terrible loop fabric that quite literally fell apart where it was stitched to the garment in the first wash (I had a pair myself and a few DMs from upside-down blokes confirmed this). I love a full pattern matched and issued combat uniform though, so once these newer versions started appearing I did hunt down a set. It’s one of those camos I’ve seen in the flesh when I’ve been places with work and that just makes me like it a lot more; I know quite a few of you have experienced that too.

Design of these trousers is mostly based on a straight G3 combat clone, with elements of the last generation of ADF uniforms to be issued before AMP and AMCU came in. For example the main thigh pockets have zips instead of velcro flaps and the ankles have bungee and barrel locks instead of… another velcro flap.

The wiki page claims this pattern is just Multicam in DPCU colouring, but that isn’t the case. It’s a small scale pattern that one could say is not a million miles away from MC in geometry, but it does retain much of the old gen aussie camo bunny shapes, a bit like what happened with MC vs MTP. The colouration here certainly is in line with DPCU though.
