Manticore/SB-Tactical CZPDW Scorpion Brace

I think you larp as who/what you really wish you were. Which is why I don’t have an airsoft Mk18 build, but I do have a 16″ Geissele Super Duty replica with specific semi-auto only markings, plus a couple of other fake guns with braces.

Manticore no longer listed any braces on their site when I checked before posting this, and SB didn’t make the metal parts of this setup, only the rubber bit that your arm definitely goes through. Hence, I’m not sure you can actually get a 2 bar telescopic brace for the Evo currently; at least not this one.

Does that matter? No because if you’re working within legal restrictions or you’re doing absurd larp like me, you can still get a brace portion that replaces the rear section of the standard Evo 3 folding stock assembly, or the entire folding brace from SB. And that is a much better idea than what I have here.

This might have a small portion of the aesthetics of the classic MP5 telescopic stock, but it’s a bad choice from a functional and ergonomic perspective. Not because it’s unusable, it’s OK for a recreational shooter (which is the only person who would buy one) and makes a compact package with the stock barrel length with quick deployment. However the Evo of course lacks the 2 channels that are stamped in to an MP5 receiver for the bolt carrier to ride, so the stock bars on this brace sit fully astride the Evo upper and the whole thing is pretty much just as wide as an Evo would be with normal folding stock/brace that’s been folded – probably longer too.

Stability is ok when extended, no complaints on the production quality of any components. However the cheek weld would be even worse than an MP5 2 bar. Almost as bad an MP7 or under folder AK. If you happened to put your cheek there and the weapon was real.

This wasn’t even cheap considering the absurdity of the purchase – but it does look very interesting, and sliding it in and out satisfies the little tactile-tism in my brain even better than an MP5 stock.

There is 1 QD socket on the upper left area of the mounting block and the grub screw next to it locks the whole assembly on to the rear of the gun.

The socket side of the brace assembly, the groove fits around the protrusions on the rear of the Scorpion. Only a very small amount of material needs to be removed to fit real stocks to current production ASG airsoft replicas.

Above is the 2 stock bars when the ‘brace’ is not fitted to the Scorpion. The 2 notches provide 2 options for extended lengths, and you could add more if you take your time even with hand files.
