This thing really is a straight upgrade for the platform. Costs slightly more than a similar Carbine length AR handgaurd, but is still very economical when compared to the various metal M-LOK forends that are on the market.
I don’t think too many people are attaching a pic section and then a laser to their handguard even if they did spend on a metal one, a 12 o’clock mount is going to be better. So it really makes more sense to use plastic here that will actually insulate your support hand from barrel heat and from heat/cold in the environment.
Granted it would be cooler if they released their other colours, but I’m sure the potential market is a lot smaller than for anything that could go on an AR.
If you do want to forward mount a light as I have here, I can highly recommend the Cantilever Rail/Light Mounts as the standard or stock QR handguard retention pin is a perfect fit under it. Obviously you can use the included screw-fit pin if you don’t mind losing the ability to switch forends without tools.
As always, the Magpul special blend is extremely rugged and makes for a sturdy plastic construction that can securely mount whatever M-LOK accessories you might wish to use.
