Spiritus Systems Mk5 for Power Rangers

Micro Fight Chassis, 5th commercial named variant.

After seeing huge success with their Mk1-4 iterations which were of a dual compartment construction and built with classic standard 500D cordura, Spiritus then began using laminate fabrics just a few years ago. This allowed for a more modern construction with laser cut PALS slots all across the front and up each side.

While it is, in some respects, quite simple and all dimensions are fixed, it’s huge popularity is very much a result of that simplicity and the very effective design. For the vast majority of people looking to use a modular placard on their kit, this is the form factor that they are most likely to need. Room for 3 x 556 inside, and basically limitless options for customising the outsides with standard pouches if desired. Plus of course a loop field on the front.

The combination of shape and materials gives the chassis an unusual amount of rigidity in the directions that matter. Smooth reloads (on the kit side, if you use a good insert) and a solid attachment platform for pouches.

For me personally though, the real winning factor here is the assembly line they setup to make these. That simple design is highly manufacturable, using a single piece of cordura laminate that is folded and stitched together in only a few places (comparatively). They created custom machinery to cut other parts of the assembly to keep the whole process efficient. As a result the price at the end was really competitive for the quality and being made by free people in the USA.
