WetWrx Flex Fit Harness Mod

Ever had a chest rig where you could never get the Goldilocks adjustment spot for the back strap? Too tight around your torso so you loosened it the tiniest amount and then the whole rig slides around on you? Maybe you should add a bit of elastic in to the mix, like these harness mods from WetWrx.

Personally as soon as I saw these I immediately thought ‘yep, exactly what I need’ and bought one of each colour to cover all my rigs. Super simple things and yes you could make them yourself if you have a sewing machine, but I don’t think most people are inclined towards buying individual components of gear for whatever reason.

I’m not sure if these are currently being made or on the cards to be made, as at the time of writing they’re OOS, but worst case you can just make them for yourself. And these will work with 95% of rigs on the market because almost everyone uses a simple 1″ strap, with which these are compatible.

They come in sets of 3 for $20 which is pretty good, so in theory you could do both sides of your shoulder harness and your back strap, but that will all depend on your body shape and weight of your rig. I’ve never found the shoulder harness restrictive when properly adjusted and it’s more likely to be bouncy with any weight in your rig, but adding the elasticity to the back strap has worked nicely all around for me.

The only issue I could see is if your rig is quite weighty, beyond a certain point it could overcome the strength of the elastic and sag when you lean forward/go down prone/sprint. Not as much of an issue with the back strap vs the shoulder harness, and for me I’d go to webbing rather than overload my front like that, but I do know the American penchant for big chest rigs (TAPS seems a bit bonkers to me honestly).
