Many of you will have seen the old photos of the many prototypes and trials items that were manufactured for Objective/Future Force Warrior in the early 2000s. Actually seeing those items again 20+ years later is unusual however.
Here we have the Assault pack style design that was integrated in to one of the commonly depicted ensembles. It was originally Scorpion camo (pre MC) but this early fabric has faded over time. While it was shown being worn with the early CAGE, there are backpack straps which are quite normal. Centre image shows the lower side straps clipped in to the vest rather than being a normal waist strap.
The top closure is build like a roll-top with stiffening but is actually just hook and loop, with a side access smaller zip pocket on the front and lots of PALS space of course.
It’s quite hard to actually make out anything of this pack in the minimal original photography that is available, so it’s a treat to get some much better views that more clearly explain the construction.
